I’m as surprised as you all are, but it was two nights ago, while I was enjoying my NBC late-night comedians, when the outfit hit me.

It was on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Everything was going well and I was laughing at all the jokes, until Fallon called Olbermann out on the show.

The first thought that came to my mind was ‘What were you thinking?’ Here is this outspoken, big shot political commentator wearing what would seem to be a business attire on top, only to have washed-out denim on the bottom.

And then I saw the sneakers….SNEAKERS.

So I did what any normal person would do in reaction to this horrifying image –tweet.

It was only to my surprise that the man, himself, replied:

I, then, replied, “@KeithOlbermann then that’s the one exception. But the washed-out denim? I’m just looking out for you.”

But, after getting some rest, it hit me. Why would you wear sneakers if you have a broken foot? Why not a soft cast? You can walk with that, right? Wouldn’t sneakers restrict the blood flow of your broken foot, or something?

I thought long and hard and even though I was infatuated with a well-known person mentioning me in his tweet, whether you are Keith Olbermann or Ryan Reynolds, there is no way I would like the jeans and sneakers combination.

And you’re really going to wear a chocolate-colored suit jacket and think it works with light-colored jeans? Puh-leeez.

In Olbermann’s case, if you’re going to be casual in your style, be casual. If you want to be formal, be formal. Don’t try to mix the two together because it’s clear you just don’t know how.

If you are having an ‘Olbermann moment’, think of your setting. Where are you going? What kind of attire is proper?

If you still want to wear denim, wear the darkest shade. Dark blue denim can go both ways, casual or semi-formal. Ladies take a daytime look of dark denim, flats and a nice top to an evening (out-with-the-girls) look with heels to replace the flats and add some accessories.

Men, I feel if you wanted to make the denim look a bit more formal, you can definitely add a nice solid-color button-up and throw on a jacket. No tie is necessary.

But, if wherever you are going is strictly a formal occasion, jeans shouldn’t even be an option for either sex. If you have a broken foot, ankle, leg or toe…you don’t have to settle for sneakers.

Sneakers are for the gym, everything from the guys working up a sweat on the treadmills to the senior citizens and new moms doing their early morning pace-walking in the malls.

Dress formal from head to toe and give that broken foot a soft cast, while the healthy foot is in its dress shoe. Show some effort.

So, it pained me to see such an outfit on Olbermann, and I just couldn’t keep those thoughts to myself. But then after looking at the way he replies to tweets from other people, I kind of took a step back:

At least I found the humor in that tweet.

I recently came back from a trip to St. Petersburg, Fla., where it was hot. Just taking a step out of the hotel, I took the risk of having my sweat glands formulate droplets to trickle down the side of my head.

But, if there was one thing that I did to help prevent an overheated head –it was braiding my hair. Before heading to the land of heat and humidity, I had my hair stylist give me a kinky twist do.

I still have it now and plan to keep it on for my sister’s graduation coming up, this Tuesday. This style is a part of the braiding family –a hairdo that is mainly worn by black women.

But, it seems this type of ethnic braiding is attracting women of other races.

On my last day in St. Petersburg, I went to the farmer’s market, which was crowded and full of color –from different foods to purses and jewelry.

As I stepped in line waiting to buy a handful of sweet red grapes, I stood behind a young white woman and to my surprise, she had braids.

Not only were they braids, but she did the most common version, which is using additional hair (synthetic or natural, I did not know) with the tips burnt to keep the braids in place.

I am all for trying something different and out of the box when  it comes to hairstyles, but I’m not sure this woman pulled this off.

The jobless rate is up and the workforce is becoming more competitive within each industry. So, what’s one way to stand out of the crowd?

For many young people (and even you hip older ones), this is a dream come true.

Urban Outfitters will have a store on York Road in Towson, MD. coming later this year. But as it is a time for celebration, it does bring up the question:

Will the number of customers decrease at the UO in downtown Baltimore?

Since UO has not been in walking distance for many students in Towson, they have had to drive down, take a bus to downtown Baltimore.

What do you think?

It’s not to say that with this new and closer shop, the one in downtown Baltimore will close. That will not happen, but perhaps the number of customers will balance out between the two stores.

Yes, you can go buy your Dolce & Gabbana‘s, your Jimmy Choo‘s or your Versace‘s –but there is nothing like getting a great looking, durable, well-structured shoe…for a great price.

But we want more!

OK, here’s more about this cool guy. Austin has a more laid back approach to his wardrobe,but still manages to look put-together. For instance, Austin needed glasses and he said, ‘Well, if I wanted to get glasses, I wanted to get cool frames and I got these.”

The worn-out, vintage-looking mahogany shoes, the 1950s styled glasses, and the flat cap gives Austin a bit of old fashion to his modern look.

With such a combination of styles, this electronic, media and film major would more likely hold the door for you, say his ‘please’ and ‘thank yous’ and ride a bike more often than a car.

Knowing him for a while, I can attest to the first two –he’s a gentleman, but more than cars and bikes, this guy loves to skate using Rollerblades.

See in Baltimore, we have things known as newsstands, where several news publications are to be distributed, whether for a price or for free. Here in Las Vegas, they have what I would like to call two things –porn stands or escort stands –same function, just different publications.

Nevertheless, Louis and I got through the smokers and slot machines of our hotel and when we got into our rooms (he’s on the 12th, I’m on the 10th) I think I can speak for the both of us, that we were so happy to see a bed.

But nevermind all of that because this blog isn’t just about my adventures, but it’s mainly about the fashion! Now, for this post I don’t have any strangers’ photos to put here, but I do have some photos of Louis and I as we strolled the land of Las Vegas. I must say, both Louis and I looked great as well.

What I did noticed was that with all the high-end fashion stores (i.e Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton) there are here, you would think the ‘rich’ women would know not to dress slutty. Riddle me that…

Yes, today is the first day of springtime weather in Towson. It could easily be summer weather too, with the sun’s rays blazing down on the campus –and do Towson students go all out on sunny days.

There were girls sunbathing at Freedom Square –no need to say anything more about that.

But what was  beautiful was to see many students dressing fashionably appropriate, if you will, with the season.

But amid all that were Amy Packett, 19, and Mike Green, 21, who comfortably sat on some steps near the water. These two stood out of the moving crowd, being seemingly cool with their shades.

Packett, who is an art major at Anne Arundel Community College, loves shopping at Forever 21, PacSun, Garage, Target and Tilly’s. Her outfits depend on the weather, her mood and just whatever she feels like wearing.

She loves fashion and accepts to be called chic, but not hipster. “I can see how I would look like it, but I am not one,” she said.

Hopefully, she’s wearing a dress today, as she hopes to wear more of when the weather catches up to the season we’re in –”dresses all the time,” she said with a smile.

“I can’t wait to wear the least amount possible,” Green said, hoping for warmer weather. He describes his style as the “ultimate cool” and there’s no arguing about that. Looking like a young Johnny Cash, Green looks badass (excuse the french) with his Ray-Ban shades.

“It’s something I can’t go out without wearing,” Green said.

But what is the most badass part about this young entrepreneur –he loves to shop at thrift stores.

Side note: What to find something really unique to go with your daily outfits? You’ll be sure to find some classics that work well into modern-day fashion, such as Green’s vintage jacket.

So, this Annapolis duo are quite all right. They may not have any advice for others on style, but as Green said, “As long as I look good, it’s all good.”

Take that however you would like, but I encourage you to use that quote for yourself. It’s all about confidence and if you say you look good, then yes, it’s all good.

Great look that works for the winter-like weather in Buffalo. Photo by Olivia Obineme, 2011.

All the way in Buffalo, NY did I find 21-year-old Izena having a smoke in front of the Buffalo bus station. Not only did this young hairstylist have amazing hair, but she also had an array of popping colors in her outfit.

How would you describe Izena’s style? It’s definitely a sporty street look as I see it. “I love being colorful,” Izena said, but that’s not all that has her in love with her style.

Izena loves getting a bargain and shops at TJMxx to get her sales on!

Another thing that really rounds out Izena is her sneakers. “It’s one thing I can’t live without,” she said.
